CBS News offers up 5 things you probably didn’t know about the cock; Jezebel responds with 5 more.
It wasn’t until late last night when one of my roommates tipped me off to an honest-to-goodness LiveJournal (LJ) strike.
– “Did you hear about this LJ strike?”
– “What LJ strike?”
Sure enough, I see a post on LJ a few minutes later about it.
Despite my “permanent” member status, I don’t pay particularly close attention to LJ. It’s not terribly surprising then that I didn’t know a thing about it until the eleventh hour.
It appears the issues prompting the strike stem from LJ’s lack of adequate communication with its user base. LJ member beckyzoole outlined in a post dated Monday the reasons behind the strike.
The strike starts at midnight GMT (That’s 8:00 p.m. here in D.C.) and lasts for 24 hours. Participants are asked to post no content whatsoever to LJ — no new posts, no comments, no nothing.
LJ offered up a mea culpa of sorts yesterday.
I’m rather on the fence about whether to take part in the strike or not. Will it be effective? Most likely no, but there’s also a principle involved.
Update: After giving it further thought, I am going to support this strike. No new Grapefeed entries will be crossposted to LJ during the strike. Any entries that are published will remain exclusive to Grapefeed and be indicated with the icon at right.
This is either the best or the worst video I’ve ever seen. (via dcist)
