While I have a break between map updates, I did a little checking on Florida’s Amendment 2, which seeks to amend the state constitution to define marriage as solely between one man and one woman. The prospect isn’t good for marriage equality in the Sunshine State, as nearly 2/3 of voters are for the amendment with more than half the precincts reporting.

So much attention has been focused on California’s Proposition 8 — I’m just as guilty of that — but what about the other ballot questions on same-sex marriage? The Advocate gives an overview of initiatives in Florida (Amendment 2), Arizona (Proposition 102), Arkansas (Act 1) and of course California.

There’s lots to see and do on I Drive. I’m across the street from my
hotel, waiting for a tourist trolley to check some of it out.

Well, color me surprised.
Repent America has proclaimed that Hurricane Katrina’s devastation of New Orleans is our fault. According to them, New Orleans was targeted because of the annual Southern Decadence event, which takes place every Labor Day weekend. With the bulk of the city underwater, this year’s festival was obviously cancelled.
Nearly four years ago, Jerry Falwell blamed gays and lesbians for the terrorist attacks on September 11; he recanted within days. In 1998, Pat Robertson performed a similar foot-in-mouth stunt when he blamed gays for the Florida brushfires, which coincided with a gay event in Orlando.
