Fiery Tree on flickr

Fiery Tree: The leaves on this tree are the most vibrant shade of orange-red I’ve seen all season. What’s more alarming is how long the leaves have remained on the trees this year. Most of the trees in my neighborhood are usually bare this late in the season. (FredoAlvarez/flickr)
I haven’t really gone out and looked at the fall foliage much this year, but this tree really caught my attention this morning on my way to the bus stop.

The Autumn Leaves on flickr
The Autumn Leaves: Fall finally arrived this week when a cold front moved through the area, ridding us of the humid 90°+ temperatures we had on Monday and Tuesday. The cold front came with a gusty set of winds and thusly many leaves fell to the ground. (FredoAlvarez/flickr)

The Leaves are Turning Already
The Leaves are Turning Already, by flickrite Fredosan

The mate recently said that once September comes to D.C., it’s like flipping a switch: the weather suddenly becomes pleasant, as the warm temperatures linger but the humidity fades away.
